LiftMaster remotes are designed to function with LiftMaster garage door openers. Typically they should work with openers that are 1993 or older. Those openers are equipped safety sensors.

Here are the steps to program a LiftMaster remote.

First thing to program a LiftMaster remote is to locate the learn/program button. Additionally, this button is typically found at the backside of the light cover.

Next press and release the learn/program button. Also, an LED light will illuminate for 30 seconds,. This will indicate the opener is in learn mode.

Thirdly, within 30 seconds, press and release the learn/program button on the remote. This will usually be located on the back or within the battery cover.

Finally, you will know the programming is successful if the garage door opener unit’s lightbulb blinks or you hear two clicks.
